Here are my final pieces from my last second year uni project. It’s been an interesting year! I’ve grown up a lot (in how I approach my work, anyway) and I’m much more confident with my style. I think I’ve found a balance between drawing what I want and fitting my drawing to the required context.

Anyway, this project was to buy a product for £1 and redesign the packaging. I chose Colgate toothpaste. -u- Theoretically inside would be sachets that can be torn open (like condiments or Calpol) and squeezed onto a toothbrush. Obviously I couldn’t make plastic/waterproof holders so these are just card.

Here are some calming pictures of our old guinea piggy, as I am far too stressed with work at the minute. Her name was Spice and she was very grumpy. But in a fluffy sort of way.

Project for uni called ‘Issues and Beliefs’, based on the size 0 concern. This tree has the same measurement as a size 0 waist; 23 inches (58cm). I took this number out of context so it could be seen as something other than a number or measurement, and made clothes labels to illustrate the issue after studying Paul Davis’ work.

This project means a lot to me. I struggled getting my thoughts down at first and even looking back now it’s finished feels strange somehow. It was the first uni project I put my whole heart into.

It was also a turning point for me finding I could use type as image. I enjoy writing about as much as drawing, so it’s always rewarding to combine the two.
